We are a Greek-German family with roots in the South Aegean (Dodecanese Islands), living in Germany but always spending as much time as possible in the Aegean. After many years of careful consideration, the time had come to develop the beautiful existing plot on Kalymnos in order to bring our project “Villa INO” to life.

Wir sind eine griechisch-deutsche Familie mit Wurzeln in der Süd-Ägäis (Dodekanes Inseln), welche in Deutschland lebt, aber schon immer soviel wie möglich Zeit in der Ägäis verbringt. Nach vielen Jahren reichlicher Überlegung, war es nun an der Zeit das wunderschöne, vorhandene Gründstück auf Kalymnos zu erschließen , um unser Projekt "Villa INO" zu realisieren.

Unsere Philosophie
Our ambition has always been to adapt Villa Ino to its Mediterranean surroundings and to ensure it blends harmoniously into the overall landscape of Kalymnos and the Masouri/Mirties region. We aim to create an aesthetic that embraces the beauty of imperfection, transience, and incompleteness, inspired by “Wabi-Sabi”, a Japanese design philosophy, while preserving the essence of the Mediterranean beauty of Greece.

Unser Anspruch war und ist es, die Villa Ino der mediterranen Umgebung anzupassen und sich in das Gesamtbild von Kalymnos und der Region Masouri/Mirties einzufügen. Wir wollen eine Ästhetik einbringen, welche sich in die Schönheit, der Unvollkommenheit, Vergänglichkeit und Unvollständigkeit einfindet - angelehnt an „Wabi-Sabi“, einer japanischen Ästhetik - ohne das der Bezug zur mediterranen Schönheit Griechenlands verloren geht.
Lokale Handwerkskunst
It was also important to us to express an appreciation for natural things that bear traces of wear and transience over time, and to reflect the acceptance of flaws and change as a natural part of life. Essential building materials, such as the stones for the masonry cladding, the pebbles on the terrace, the plants, and more, were provided directly by a Kalymnian stonemason using locally quarried rock.

Auch war es uns wichtig, entsprechend eine Wertschätzung von natürlichen Dingen, die durch die Zeit Spuren von Abnutzung und Vergänglichkeit tragen, und die Akzeptanz von Fehlern und Veränderungen als natürlichen Teil des Lebens wiederzuspiegeln. Wesentliche Baustoffe, wie zum Beispiel die Steine für die Verkleidung des Mauerwerks, die Kieselsteine der Terrasse, die Bepflanzung, etc., wurden von einem Steinmetz Kalymnos mit örtlich abgebauten Gestein direkt dazu eingebracht.
Einzigartige Unikate
Woodwork such as most of the furniture, doors, exterior railings and more was also produced and installed exclusively by local carpenters on Kalymnos. Each of these pieces of furniture is a unique one-of-a-kind item.

Auch wurden Holzarbeiten, wie der Großteil der Möbel, Türen, Außengeländer, etc. ausschließlich durch einheimische Schreiner auf Kalymnos hergestellt und montiert. Jedes dieser Möbelstücke ist ein individuelles Unikat.
